The Festival celebrates the long and rich outdoor heritage of the Winyah Bay on which the city of Georgetown is located and takes place in various venues throughout the city including East Bay Park, Winyah Gym and the Georgetown County Museum, which benefits from festival proceeds.
New this year is Palmetto Dock Dogs, which promotes the canine sport of dock diving and anyone can enter his or her dog into the competition.
In addition to Palmetto Dock Dogs, East Bay Park events taking place on Saturday and Sunday include: Youth Duck Calling Clinic and Contest, Birds of Prey Demonstration, “Let’s Talk Fish” with the Georgetown Fishing Guides, the SC State Duck Calling Championships, Fly Tying Demonstrations, Children’s Decoy Painting, DNR Real Shooting Trailer and Take One Make One fishing simulator.
Exhibitors will be taking part in a juried show and sale as part of the festival on both Saturday and Sunday as well. Featuring wildlife painters and decoy carvers; jewelry makers, pottery artists and more, the show at Winyah Gym will be overflowing with the work of more than forty exceptional exhibitors. Tickets for the festival are $10 for Saturday or Sunday and $15 for both day, children under 13 are free. You may purchase festival tickets at any event location including East Bay Park, and the Museum at 632 Prince Street
Volunteers are still needed in a variety of roles. If you are willing to give a few of hours either Saturday or Sunday, the festival committee could use help with everything from selling tickets to set-up and clean-up. If you would like to help please call the Museum 545-7020.
